Jake is an experienced head gardener, holder of the Royal Horticultural Society’s most prestigious award the Master of Horticulture, full member of The Chartered Institute of Horticulture, The Professional Gardeners Guild and a proud member of The Professional Garden Consultant's Association. Also, a Trustee of The British Iris Society and currently membership secretary and on the executive and trials committees.
Having managed the gardens of Historic Houses, Private Estates and Trusts he has acquired a broad range of skills and knowledge associated with running large gardens. He has worked up and down the UK on different soils and surroundings, in gardens that are expertly designed 2-acre spaces, up to 145-acre historic gardens of national importance.
Some of his previous roles included working on gardens with some of the most popular garden designers in the country, this included helping to make their stunning plans work on a day-to-day practical level for the gardeners maintaining them. Those connections and others made through his work with the BIS have also taken him to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show resulting in being a part of two gold medals.
His current projects include focusing on the breeding of new Iris cultivars and research into improving growing methods.
